Understanding SharePoint Journal - Advanced Content Type Development - Volume 1, Issue 9
Advanced Content Type Development
In this issue of USP Journal, I’m going to show you the power of content types in ways you may never have seen before. I’ll show you how to extend SharePoint itself by creating custom functionality that you control through the development of content types.
This issue is not for beginners. You should be fairly well versed in content type development prior to reading this. To be specific, you should know how to create and deploy content types using CAML code, you should know XML by heart, and you should understand how .NET works.
Throughout this issue, you will learn a massive amount of advanced content type development topics. We'll build a plug-in system using custom XML documents, delegate controls, custom lists, and external assemblies. The plug-in system is versatile, allowing you to extend behavior of or add content to individual pages, items, folder, webs, or sites.
This issue is part of an advanced content type development course at USPJ Academy.
