Can access to free links be unlimited? I'd like to distribute some material for free ?

No, the max. number of downloads for a download link (free or otherwise) can only be set to 9. You can however set the product price to 0 and then it's ADD TO CART button will let your users get the product free without having to checkout with PayPal.
