create free freebie package packages product products purchase regular sell type variants

Is there any way (type of variants) I can add to make a product free with any purchase? I used to be able to do that but now I see people can get the freebie without a purchase. Any ideas? :)

The only way to do that will be to create a package product for each product that you have and then include the regular product and the freebie in that package and then sell the packages rather than regular products.
