I am trying to set up two downloads - one free and one paid for our site, in addition to the merch we are selling. The shopping cart for the physical merch appears to be set up properly, but when I try to add my downloads to the cart, I get an error message that says "this product is out of stock." Help??? I find the set up page very daunting with all of those boxes to check in addition to File Download. Am I missing something? # POSTED ON: April 23, 2008 @ 18:02 GMT -7 |

Are you selling multiple items that require the use of a shopping cart or could the free item be be positioned separately? # POSTED ON: April 23, 2008 @ 20:08 GMT -7 |

TrialandError, I'm not sure I understand the question. I am selling two individual downloads and then several physical items. # POSTED ON: April 23, 2008 @ 20:14 GMT -7 |

Is the free item promotional (i.e. a squeeze page, part of an opt-in, or marketing related). Or is it something that is given out as a bonus for a purchasers (i.e. buy $50 worth and get our guide free). I guess my point is this: I am not sure why you are having quantity issues with digital downloads. I sell two e-books through e-junkie and have never had a problem. Considering that I didn't help set up your system, I can only speculate. My guess (and it is that) is that you are managing the download of your digital products, is that correct? That is, they are being treated by the e-junkie platform as just another piece of physical inventory. If so, you may have to manually enter a number for the inventory (eg 5,000) and just keep an eye on it. When you get low, simply readjust the inventory number. The reason I asked about the free product and its role is that considering you are giving a product out for free, depending on it's role (bonus with purchase, or promotional give away) and the amount you are giving away, monitoring the "inventory" number could be a pain. My suggestion would be this: if you are managing the download of your digital products, let e-junkie handle it. It will save you bandwith and eliminate the need for entering an inventory number. I am 99% sure that you can still add them to the same cart as your physical inventory. A little testing should quickly answer that question. If you don't want to change the set-up for your paid download and your freebee is promotional or part of a squeeze page, then separate it and let e-junkie handle the download for you. Then you eliminate the necessity of managing inventory (wasting time) on something that isn't directly making you money. I have no idea if this helps, but let me know. It seems like your digital products are being treated as physical items which can be changed fairly quickly. # POSTED ON: April 23, 2008 @ 20:44 GMT -7 |

Thanks for trying to help. I have set up the mp3s as downloads within e-junkie. At this point, I have one set up as a free download (setting the price at $0.00) and the other item at a cost of $.99. I am not sure what boxes I should be checking besides the one that says File Download. I have tried various permutations and still get the error code when I try to put one of them in the shopping cart. I have not set up any inventory number or anything. I guess I'm worried that one of my settings is off, goofing things up... I did try it, setting up an inventory number, but that didn't change the situation. I also pulled the code off to be put in myspace *the non-java version) and pasted it in. All that happens when I add a download is that a shopping cart page is opened with no items in it. Totally empty. This all seems very strange. # POSTED ON: April 23, 2008 @ 21:04 GMT -7 |

It sounds like you have the Inventory Control setting checkmarked for one of your products. Are you using the "package product" approach to combine two (or more) files into a single purchasable item (e.g. to combine the freebie file with the paid file together as one product)? If so, the Inventory Control checkbox might be marked in either component product, or in the combined package product. View Product configs for each one; the Inventory Control checkbox will be right there on the first product-settings screen for each one. Another thing to consider: have you actually uploaded a file for each product you're offering? If someone tries to order a download, and no file has been uploaded to our server for that product yet, then they would be unable to order a file which cannot be downloaded yet. # POSTED ON: April 24, 2008 @ 10:38 GMT -7 MODIFIED ON: April 24, 2008 @ 10:40 GMT -7 |

Tyson, I think you helped me fix the problem. I am going to test it now. While I'm hoping you might check back here, I just wanted to clarify my understanding of the way downloads work... When downloads are hosted on E-Junkie's server, I can *sell* an unlimited number of downloads of any size (within my alotted server space). But, I can only give away 100 free downloads per day. Is that right? Do I need to set anything in my options to allow for this? Do I need to give away a code? Thanks very much... # POSTED ON: April 24, 2008 @ 13:02 GMT -7 |
