hosting files and security

I am out of storage space on e-junkie, so I need to host files myself. There is no place to enter a password to access the files when I sell one, so how can I keep them secure? I do not want someone to browse to that folder on my server.

There are 2 ways to protect them.

1. add an index.html page to the folder (or what every your default page is, could be .php etc)
This will display instead of the list of files.

2. Ask your host if you can identify the folder to change the ability to list the files.

be sure to use disallow the search engines from indexing the files using the robots.txt file

Hey, some good ideas there SimpliFun!

But robots.txt might be a bad idea as a hacker might like to check your robots.txt file simply to see what all are you trying to hide ;)

I've posted one solution at http://www.e-junkie.com/bb/topic/2139/pg/0#post6773
