I am trying to figure out how to create the upgrade discount for my software package, and it struck me that I could use the buyer's email address as a one-time-use gift certificate for the product they are trying to upgrade. But I don't see a way to restrict the product that a gift certificate can be applied to.

So then I thought that I could enter the discount as an item discount...but there is no way to indicate that the code would be for a one-time use only.

Has anyone else licked this yet?

Yes. In E-junkie Admin > Discount codes, you can create one time discount codes for items as well now.
