Newsletter Costs and Update???

I'm writing a newsletter to the buyers of my product, and I made sure I chose "newsletter" in the drop down menu, but i noticed the button says "update calculated cost" and when I click that, e-junkie takes me to a page where I'm asked to pay a small paypal fee. Is this the normal method for sending a newsletter?

I'm just worried about accidentally sending my customers an update of some kind that is not needed. If I click "Pay" will only the text in the newsletter be sent to all of the email addresses connected to my product?

I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Yes, a Newsletter will only send whatever text you type for the message, along with an automated "Dear [%first_name%]," greeting line we insert at the top. Since the optional Updates/Newsletter function is not directly involved in processing orders nor fulfilling downloads but does incur a spike in our overhead costs, that is our only feature for which we do charge a nominal fee as detailed here:

If you anticipate needing to email newsletters on a frequent or regular basis, we would actually recommend using a specialist provider in email marketing and mailing lists, such as Aweber, and we have built-in integration to subscribe your new buyers to your Aweber email lists:

Ahh, thanks! I actually have just started service with Aweber last week, do you know if there is any way possible to add the emails from older buyers. I've used e-junkie for over a month and would love to add those who have already purchased onto an aweber email list. Thanks!

You can obtain previous buyer emails from your Admin > View/Download Transaction Log. Note the log display defaults to show only the past month, but you can adjust the displayed date range at the top of that page. If you have a lot of emails to grab out of there, you can download the log to a file that you can open in a spreadsheet program like Excel or Gnumeric, so you can select the column of emails to copy and paste into, say, Notepad to produce a plain text list of emails.
