Increasing price after x number of sold?

I'd like to be able to sell a certain number of an item at one price, then, after those items sell or after a deadline passes (or both), I'd like the price of the item to increase.
Does anyone know how I can do this? I'm not a programmer.
Thanks!

If you are only selling ONE item, then you can use "Cart discounts" to do what you need.
Basically, create a discount for any percentage you want, without a coupon code and limit the use count to X. After X sales, the discount will stop working .. essentially causing an increase in the price.
However, this will affect all your items.

Thanks for your help! Of course, now you know I'm going to suggest that it would be cool if this could be done per item. :-)
Thanks again!

Suggestions are what made E-junkie what it is :)
It's already on our to-do for 2009 Q1 to make cart discounts applicable to certain products only.
