purchase rules (combination item purchase vs minimum $ purchase)

Hello,
My client has just added to 2 new tangible products (balloons and teddy bears) to her product range that can only be purchased when one of her other tangible products (clothing wraps or clothing blooms) are purchased.
Is there a way to set up a rule so that the balloons and teddy bears can only be purchased when a clothing wrap is also purchased?
Or alternatively, is there a way to set a minimum purchase amount (eg minimum cart total of say $45)? - anything below $45 will not be allowed to checkout and returns an error message in the cart.
Thanks in advance.

We do have a merchant doing something similar to what you're requesting:
Take a look at the cart at http://www.muvaudio.com/
It's custom JavaScript code but can be used to do what you need.
This method would allow you to offer the balloons and teddy bear purchase option in the cart itself only when the main item is present.

Hello again,
I had a look at the page you suggested but looks like they don't set a minimum price on an order - they had an option to include a backup cd for an additional amount.
Unfortunately that does not work for our website as we have different requirements.
The balloons have 4 options to choose from and the teddy bears have 3 options to choose from (eg they really are stand alone products) so including an "add a balloon or teddy bear" message in the cart is not really an option.
We don't mind if a customer chooses a teddy bear or balloon first and places it in the shopping cart before adding one of the main 4 products - we just want to ensure that they cannot proceed to checkout unless:
+ the minimum purchase amount of $45 is exceeded.
or
+ one of the main 4 products is in the cart
That's an either/or - but perhaps setting a minimum purchase amount would be simplest??
Anything below $45 will not be allowed to checkout and returns an error message in the cart saying that the minimum purchase requirements have not been met.
How do we do this?
Please help as I am unsure how to make this happen.
Thanks so very much.

We're going to add the ability to only allow checkout if the cart has reached a specified total.
We'll add it to your Seller Admin first and then later add it as a feature for everyone.
We'll let you know when we've added it, but it should take about a week. :)

Hello E-Junkie Crew,
Any news on the "ability to only allow checkout if the cart has reached a specified total" modification?
I had a look in the admin section but couldn't see it.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

Hello,
Our development is working on it. We're in the process of adding updates as we speak, so that's why it's taking so long! I'm sorry about the delay. We'll let you know just as soon as it's available!

Ok, this is done. However I'll need to hardcode the value for your account for now.
What's the amount that you want?

$40 (AU is our currency) would be awesome for the hard code amount.
Thanks so much!!

Hello E-junkieChef,
That is excellent.
Good thinking - a non js version is definitely required too as a backup for non js users.
Any chance you could change the wording in the pop up box to:
"
Unfortunately we cannot process your order as the minimum purchase amount is $40.00.
"
I understand this is currently hard coded and we can’t change the dollar amount at the moment – but with the development of the admin editable version for all E-junkie users....
Please enable customisation of both the:
+ $ amount
+ Message for the pop up box
That would be awesome.
Thanks to all at the E-junkie team.
Keep up the great work.

Greetings E-Junkie,
We are currently running into a similar problem - in our case, we have a baseline service that must be purchased before they are allowed to buy additionally upgrade options. However, we can not enforce this with the current setup.
Is there anyway that we can have a rule which would not allow persons to purchase upgrade services unless they have the base product in their cart?
Your help is much appreciated.
Josh
