How can an affiliate offer a post-sale bonus?

Hi.

I am promoting a couple of products on e-junkie as an affiliate, and I would like to offer a free bonus to customers that purchase through my link.

How can I do this?

Every time I make a sale, I just get an email stating a sale has been made, but no reference to who bought the product or any information that I can see which would allow me to send a bonus on to the buyer.

Any ideas? This doesn't need to be automated.

kind regards,
Nick

The Sale Notification email you receive from E-junkie after payment is completed should tell you all information collected about the buyer and their order, at least their name and email, and that info would also be available in your E-junkie Seller Admin > View/Download Transaction Log.

Hi.

All I get in the email (I'm an affiliate NOT a seller) is something like:

Congratulations! You have earned an affiliate fee of xx.xx USD for the sale (ID:1234567-7654321) of [product name] on Mon Jan 5 2009 7:56:26 MST.

How do I determine the buyer from that?

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you were an Affiliate and not a Seller. There is no way for Affiliates to obtain any buyer information directly, as the buyer is purchasing directly from the Seller, so the buyer's info is proprietary to the Seller, and moreover, revealing it to others may violate the Seller's Privacy Policy. Many Sellers are also concerned about the potential for shady Affiliates (or competitors posing as Affiliates) to steal away their customers, so this limitation prevents that as well. You can only ask the Seller to provide that information manually by referencing the Internal Transaction ID in your notification/logs (which should match up to the Invoice ID in the Seller's logs).

Thanks.

I have a good relationship with the seller, but I'm not sure he'd want to email me the buyer details every day.

Does the buyer's receipt have the info that I get... ie. (ID:1234567-7654321) ?

If so, I suppose I could ask the seller to email me their receipt ID directly and I forward the free bonus to them as long as it matches a receipt I have received?

I'm not quite sure I follow you, but the ID you see should match our internal Invoice ID, which the Seller should have in their Transaction Log. If you reference that ID to the Seller, they should be able to identify the buyer and forward your bonus to them on your behalf, if that's what you meant?

Just wondering if there has been any change on this for Affiliates???
Is there anyway the Buyer can forward any info directly to the Affiliate that would allow the Affiliate to validate the Buyer's purchase was made via my Affiliate Link????

Thanks!

Aside from matching the date/time and perhaps item name from a thank-you email the buyer could forward you, there isn't any other data routinely provided to buyers that you could match up to your Earning Report or Sale Notification emails.

However, if the seller is willing to cooperate, you can ask them to add the template code [%ej_txn_id%] -- perhaps with some descriptive text like "Referral ID: [%ej_txn_id%]" -- to their thank-you email template(s). That would insert the internal transaction ID that we display in your Affiliate Admin > Earning Report. This code can be placed directly into the seller's Common Thank-you Email template (if they have one) or into product-specific thank-you emails if they Enable Templated Email for those. Then the buyer can just forward you their thank-you email, so you can match up that ID in your Earning Report.
