Affiliate set up not working

I have switched to e-junkie from OneShoppingCart. I have an affiliate who has been selling my ebook for years under the OneShoppingCart set up. We are trying to switch him to e-junkie and are having problems giving him credit for the sales.

He signed up as an affiliate through e-junkie and has an affiliate ID. To make things as easy for him as possible, I went into seller admin>affiliate set up and created an affiliate button which I gave him to put on his site. (It was my understanding that I could do this, did I misunderstand?)

This is the button that the e-junkie set up produced:

<a href="https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?c=cart&i=190995&cl=45472&ejc=2" target="ej_ejc" class="ec_ejc_thkbx" onClick="javascript:return EJEJC_lc(this);"><img src="http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/ej_add_to_cart.gif" border="0" alt="Add to Cart"/></a>

He placed it on his site here:

http://www.debtsmart.com/offers/p_stopdebtcollectors.html

I tested it yesterday by making a purchase. The purchase went through fine, but he is not credited with the sale as an affiliate. In fact, he is not listed at all under my list of affiliates.

Can you help explain what I did wrong? (I am trying to make it easy for him, and he's already frustrated with the process. I have to say it was a lot easier in OneShoppingCart.)

Just as an overall comment, the help and explanations on e-junkie could be a lot better. I'd suggest you consider hiring a UI person go over each step and add ? button explanations to each item as well as better step-by-step instructions. I find myself going back and forth a lot trying to figure out what each step involves and how to do it correctly.

Thanks much!

Hello gerri,

First, in case you haven't seen this yet, here's the link to our affiliate program help page:
http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.affiliates.htm

I'm sorry you're having trouble, and we appreciate your input. We are in the process of adding more information to our help pages to make it even easier for everyone to follow. :)

It looks like you've given your affiliate your "add to cart" button, as opposed to an affiliate link. It looks like he wants a Direct Link.

Make sure you've followed the steps to setup your affiliate program provided on the help page (the link I provided above). You'll be given a link to put on your site that allows affiliates to sign up to participate in your program. Once they've signed up by following your link, they should be on a page where they can select the merchant from a drop down and then the product. There they are given code to paste on their site.

The code for a direct link that an affiliate is given should look similar to this:

<a href="https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?ii=xxxxx&c=cart&aff=yyyyy&ejc=2" class="ec_ejc_thkbx" target="ej_ejc"><img src="https://www.e-junkie.com/ej/ej_buy_now.gif" border="0" alt="Buy Now"></a>

The x's represent the product's item number and the y's represent the affiliate ID.

I hope that helps!

Thanks Stefanie. So I misunderstood -- I cannot set up an affiliate and give him the buy now button for his site -- he must sign up himself and create his own by now button? That wasn't clear to me from the directions.

I am glad to hear you are working on further instructions. This seems like a terrific service, but confusing to set up.

Thanks much.

That is correct -- affiliates sign up themselves. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding!

You'll just want to make sure, since he will be selling the product directly from his site, that you are offering direct links for that product.

So, is there a way to contact affiliates on this site? Or, can affiliates browse e-junkie to inquire from Sellers?

You can contact your own Affiliates by obtaining their email addresses from Seller Admin > View/Edit Affiliates.

Affiliates can use their own Affiliate Admin screen to contact Merchants whose Affiliate programs they have joined.

Affiliates can also browse other Merchants' Affiliate programs from their Affiliate Admin.
