How to disable the "Sign-up for product updates and newsletter." button?

When you check out, at the bottom there is a "Sign-up for product updates and newsletter." checkbox.

If I have a product that isn't going to include product updates or newsletter, is it possible to turn that checkbox off?

That checkbox controls a feature on our end that adds buyer names and emails to a Buyer Group list for each product they purchased, so you could use our Updates and Newsletter feature to send fresh download links or newsletters to all previous buyers of a given product.

That checkbox allows the buyer to opt in/out of being added to these Buyer Group lists; in order to remove the checkbox entirely, we'd need to add some setting in your Admin that allows you to disable the Buyer Group list-building entirely; I can only ask Development to add that feature to the wishlist for possible implementation at some point in the future.

Okay, thanks, I figured that that would be the case.

The problem I'm having is that this page only comes up when I run a test with a $0 product price. When I have a real price, it simply goes straight from PayPal to the download page. Any ideas why that is? Thanks.

I would like to add my request that there be an option to disable the sign up for newsletters button on the purchase page.

It's very confusing to my customers -- I also have a newsletter sign up on my website, and customers will think they've already sign up for it by checking the e junkie box. These leads will then be lost to me -- a very dangerous and damaging consequence!

Please, please find a way to disable this box as soon as possible!

Thanks,
Faith
