I would like to promote some products as Affiliate, but I would like to get to know them better before I start promoting them. Can I buy them using my own affiliate code?

It should be possible, but you would need to confirm with the merchant whether they will actually pay out a commission as a sort of "rebate" on products you buy for yourself via your own affiliate link.

They may have policies posted to their site's affiliate recruitment page, or you can use the Contact Merchant function of your Affiliate Admin to send a message to the same email we have onfile for a given merchant.

You should try asking the company for a free copy if it's software and you say you will write a review on the product. Some people for example will give free copies to reviewers (I would).

*You should also look into disclosing the affiliate relationship and whether or not you got the product for free (or return/delete the product after writing the review).
