I want to test my button. If I change the price to $0, will it automatically change on my page?

Yes, changing your product's price in Admin will affect how the price shows up when clicking an Add to Cart button on your page, no need to replace or modify your button code at all.
Please see this help page for more details about testing your setup:

Thanks. I changed the price to $0 to test and when I went to click my buy button, it says Paypal cannot process this charge because there is something wrong at the site.
What does this mean?

It sounds like you are testing our Buy Now button code on your site. You cannot test Buy Now buttons by setting the price to 0.00 because Buy Now buttons take a buyer directly to checkout for payment, and PayPal cannot process a "payment" for $0.00.
If you want to test Buy Now buttons, you will need to set the price to some actual amount, even if only 0.01, then borrow someone else's PayPal account or have them click your button themselves to make an actual test payment.
