Is there a way to create default product code settings? I have about 30 tangible items so would like to not have to re-enter all the details for each one.

Is there a way to do a sort of "save as" and just change the product name?

If you add products consecutively -- i.e., after you Submit a new product and get to the Button Codes screen for that product, just click Add Another Product right away from the button codes screen (without returning to Seller Admin first) -- then the next product you add will start off with the previously-added product's settings as a default which you can modify as needed.
