Sales Tax Confusion

I'm in California - according to my research, I don't need to charge sales tax for downloads. I'm offering a swift CD backup for an extra charge - so I BELIEVE I have to charge sales tax for that - (right?)
Does that make the download part of the purchase taxable as well? If no - can e-junkie only tally tax for the relevant part of the order?
Also, I believe tax would only be charged for items shipped IN STATE - but does that mean customers in California? Or those in Georgia (which is where I believe swift CD ships from)
Anybody who's been thru this before - much obliged for what you figured out
Thanks

We really cannot advise you on your legal tax obligations; you'd do best to consult your state/local Department of Revenue, or a tax professional (e.g. attorney or accountant), to determine that.
Once you know who should be charged tax for what products, we'd be glad to explain how to set that up in your Seller Admin. :^)

Got more info - here's what I want to do
1. download only - no sales tax (no problem - I have that set up already)
2. download with CD Backup - sales tax on entire bundle for customers in state of California

Okay, so I know exactly what I need now - only one bit of confusion left
I see where I can set the sales tax and states being taxed - no problem
However, I only want to apply sales tax to ONE PRODUCT
am I right in assuming that items will NOT being taxed unless I CHECK the TAX/VAT radio check when I am creating the product?
Thanks

Correct. Tax will only be calculated for products which have Sales Tax/VAT enabled in their settings.
