How to configure Shipping for my scenarios

Hello

Am playing with the new shipping features/capabilities recently available. If my local post office has the following air parcel rates :

To deliver items to ctry A, the minimum weight is 500grams and cost $10. Each additional 500grams is charged at $7.
To deliver items to ctry B, the minimum weight is 500grams and cost $8. Each additional 500grams is charged at $5.

I have 3 items that weigh, say 100grams, 300grams and 600grams. Buyer can pick any combo of the 3 items.

How do I configure?

Thks!

There are a few steps you will need to take to set this up.

First on the first page of Shipping Settings add in a $3 handling fee and make sure that the Weight Unit Preference is set to grams, then click Next.

I will use your example for country A above.
Use the shipping rate calculator drop down to choose Flat. Enter in your flat rate as $7, select the country and click Submit.

Now create a new rule identical to the above rule except place a minimum weight of 501 grams. Repeat this for 1001, 1501, etc. This way when a buyer checks out with 100 grams they will be charged $10, if the total weight is 700 grams it will be $17

You can repeat this country B except replace the $7 flat amount with $5 and change the country selected in the rules.

If you are in the US you can us one of the USPS shipping methods as the rates buyers get for those methods are calculated by the USPS servers.

Hi E-junkieNinja

Thanks for your response!

Tried your method but did not work. But extended your idea a little and it seems ok now!

Besides putting in the min. weight, I need to put in a max weight. So for a $10 flat rate for the first 500grams, and a $7 rate for the next 500grams, I configured $10 for 0-500grams and $17 for 501-1000grams.
