I've had adwords converstion tracking set up for years and while I am getting tracking information the conversions are only about 1/3 of actual sales. Interesting, up until recently when I was moved from GPC to Sites, the GA tracking was very accurate, say 95%+. Given that 80%+ of my visitors come from adwords, I find it really odd that I get such low numbers of conversions tracked in adwords. The problem of course is tihs can greatly impact adword bid costs. How is adword tracking working for you? # POSTED ON: April 2, 2010 @ 16:39 GMT -7 |

On reading a lot of other discussions, I'm now wondering if the problem is that I'm using per item, templated emails with [%download_link%] instead of [%thankyou_link%]. The confusion is 1. What is the difference between the two (they look the same)? 2 Would this result in a difference in adword tracking? I can't see how. When I use [%download_link%] the email has a link like https://www.e-junkie.com/d/?t=TTT&d=NNN&f=XXX takes me to a the page https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/rp.php?t=TTT&d=NNN&f=XXX Where as using [%thankyou_link%] give the link https://www.e-junkie.com/d/?t=TTT&f=XXX which takes me to https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/rp.php?t=TTT&f=XXX # POSTED ON: April 2, 2010 @ 18:37 GMT -7 |

The [%download_link%] variable is product-specific, can only be used in a product's templated Email Message field, and inserts a URL that leads to a thank-you/download page for only that one product, regardless of any other items in the buyer's order. The [%thankyou_link%] variable is order-specific, can be used in either your Common Thank-you Email and/or product-specific Email Message templates, and inserts a URL that leads to a consolidated thank-you/download page for every item in the buyer's order. Product-specific thank-you page Message (HTML) customizations are added to the thank-you page after each product's name and download link, then your Common Thank-you Page HTML is added at the end. # POSTED ON: April 4, 2010 @ 18:36 GMT -7 |
