An earlier discussion of this topic is under 'Persistent Cart', but I thought by starting a new thread it would have a better focus for folks interested in using e-Junkie for ticketing applications. The problem, in brief, is that the default duration of the cookie that e-Junkie keeps for a cart (24 hours, I believe) is a real problem when it comes to selling tickets to an event. You don't want users to put a couple seats in their cart, not go through with a purchase right then - come back later in the day or the next day and expect those same tickets to be available as they appear in their cart. The cart wants to be cleared as soon as they end their session, one way or the other. Or at least time out shortly thereafter. In the previously mentioned discussion e-JunkieGuru was good enough to identify the cookie used to remember the cart. However, try as I might, I cannot get a script in my pages to modify it. Either to change it's value, or it's expirey date. The other option of a configuration setting was mentioned, but to date, it only allows for a lengthening of the cart duration. My site is live for ordering and although it hasn't happened yet, one of these days there is going to be a double order if we can't adjust this. Dave # POSTED ON: August 2, 2010 @ 15:26 GMT -7 |

We really can't provide support for the sort of custom javascript you're trying to implement, so if you're having trouble setting that up, all we can really suggest is hiring a developer to either consult with you or just do it for you. We can recommend the competent, E-junkie-experienced developers listed in our directory here: http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/developer-directory.htm # POSTED ON: August 2, 2010 @ 17:17 GMT -7 |
