Discount code variable

How can I set up a discount code that would apply a discount percentage only to a purchase up to a certain dollar amount, but not above?

For example, if they purchase $50 worth of product, they get a 50% discount. So they pay $25 for $50 worth of product. But if they purchase $70 worth of product, they pay full price on the extra $20. So they would then pay $45 (25+20). How can this be set up?

Hi,

There's a way to create tiered discounts that apply based on the value of items on an order... just create a series of automatically applying discounts with increasing minimum thresholds for quantity or order total and our cart will apply only one of those discounts based on which one is more appropriate. For example, you can have a 50% discount that only kicks in on orders of $50 or more but is over-ruled by a 0% discount that kicks in on orders of $70 or more...

But if you want a discount that only takes no more than $25 off of any order of $50 or more as you describe, the best thing to do is just make a $25 discount with a minimum total of $50. That will produce the total you are looking for in both examples. ;)
