Hi! I was wondering if there is a way to set up my cart so that buyers can send an item as a "gift" with a message attached.

If you are using PayPal, then buyer's can send a message to you about making this a gift sale using the "send instructions to merchant" link on the PayPal checkout page.

Is there a way for a customer to buy a gift download for a friend?

The download link will be send to the buyer and they will need to forward it to anyone they want to gift it to.
