Ejunkie looks like a great product but I'm getting confused by the discussions here. I have many download videos I sell and currently host/sell through Payloadz.com. My site is hosted on Wordpress.com and I don't know if I have the capability to host my own large video files and I assume if I do upgrade to that, it will cost me. I wondered if I can host them on Box.net and integrate here securely with Ejunkie. If this is possible are there any downsides? What type of account would I need to sign up for? TIA! # POSTED ON: October 21, 2011 @ 09:38 GMT -7 |

Hmm, Box.net will probably work. What we will is a direct, static link to any file you are storing on Box.net that we can access remotely. Box.net's features say they provide web links to your files, but some file sharing sites like Mediafire or actually give you an URL with a random string that redirects to your file rather than the actual URL (similar to how we provide downloads to your buyers, they do not get access to the actual location of the file) -- that won't work for our purposes because we won't be able to access the file directly. I've not spoken to any users who have worked with Box.net so I can't make a solid recommendation, but we can guarantee that Amazon S3's storage service will work, and they even have a free usage tier that can give you up to 5 GB of storage with enough bandwidth to meet remote hosting needs: http://aws.amazon.com/free/ On our end you would need at least an $18/mo subscription. That is the least expensive option for an account with remote hosting, and it will support up to 60 different products for sale. Our cart does work on Wordpress sites, there is a user-created plugin that will simplify the process of adding our buttons to your site: http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.site-blog.htm#wordpress # POSTED ON: October 21, 2011 @ 10:39 GMT -7 |

Just checked w/ my webhost (hostgator) and they give me unlimited disk space & bandwidth. Does that mean I can host the downloads myself? If so, are there instructions for how to set this up somewhere? # POSTED ON: October 21, 2011 @ 10:46 GMT -7 |

Hostgator will work fine. All you do is upload files to your webhost and then enter the URL for those files into your product settings. We can't tell you how to upload files to Hostgator, but this help page could help you determine what your file URLs are after you've uploaded them: http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/tips.downloads.remote-file-url.htm # POSTED ON: October 21, 2011 @ 11:27 GMT -7 |

Woohoo! So all's solved then right? I just upload to my server and use ejunkie. That's it? Why do others need to use Amazon S3 then? # POSTED ON: October 21, 2011 @ 11:43 GMT -7 |

Not everyone has unlimited storage space with their hosts, so for those that do not Amazon is a much cheaper solution to buying extra storage. # POSTED ON: October 21, 2011 @ 11:44 GMT -7 |
