hello! i'd like to set up a shipping rule to allow me to ship multiple items in one container... for example...we are selling skeins of yarn. one skein would be calculated at the lowest USPS rate...usually around $6-8 additional skeins in the same box would be an additional $3-4 per piece. help! thank you! # POSTED ON: February 1, 2012 @ 14:35 GMT -7 |

I'm not clear whether you want to do live USPS rate lookups based on the actual order weight/destination, or just a flat rate per skein with a surcharge on the first skein? Actually, it appears you have other tangible goods you're shipping, so we'd really need to figure out a comprehensive shipping calculation approach that would cover all your tangible products. Most of your tangible items appear to have weights specified already, so you could just specify a packing Capacity for those (how many units of the product will fit in the selected packaging type) and also specify an empty Weight for the packaging type(s) you'll be using with those, then replace your current flat-rate shipping rules with some USPS rule(s) to have us do live rate lookups. As another alternative, we could do a flat rate per unit, which can differ among products if you wish, plus a Cost per empty package that can hold a specified Capacity of units per product. We can provide more detailed instructions if you can reply to explain how you want your shipping calculation to work. # POSTED ON: February 1, 2012 @ 15:35 GMT -7 MODIFIED ON: February 1, 2012 @ 15:36 GMT -7 |

hi there...THANK YOU! we are an odd duck and only offer one item at a time for our store each month. so right now we are working out what works best for each product each month. for this one, we have decided to do flat rate shipping like this: $6 for 1-2 skeins $8 for 3-4 skeins $10 for 5-6 skeins does that make sense? # POSTED ON: February 2, 2012 @ 09:38 GMT -7 |

Yes, that approach should work, although it can get tedious to set up rules for every possible order quantity you expect. Another, simpler way of going about this would simply have a Rule charging a flat $2 per unit, then you could add $4 for the first unit as a one-time Handling fee. Either way, make sure you also delete any other Shipping Rules you'd previously set up for product offers that are no longer current. # POSTED ON: February 2, 2012 @ 14:51 GMT -7 MODIFIED ON: February 2, 2012 @ 14:52 GMT -7 |
