I am trying to offer gift codes for digital books on my site and can not seem to get them to work. I set up the one time codes in the ejunkie platform, followed their directions, etc, but when I did a test purchase nothing worked correctly. My understanding is that after purchasing an item as a gift, the purchaser pays for the item, and then is provided a gift code to send to someone else who can then use that code on my site to download the books. Instead, after I purchase a gift, the sale goes through, PayPal and Google, and then I am presented with a link to download "Gift" . No code is ever presented, but I did get a notice that my inventory of codes was reduced now to four since I only started with five for testing purposes. I was careful to use the correct buy now button codes for PP and Google and only copied the codes after any changes to price etc was made. Purchasing the products not as a gift work fine, but the gift set up does not.

I want a customer to be able to purchase a book as a gift for a friend, pay for it, then receive a gift code they can forward to their friend who can go to my site, enter the code and receive the gift. Does anyone know how to set this up in ejunkie?

It sounds like you may be mixing up two different approaches: selling download links vs. selling gift coupon codes.

If you just set up the product as a Single File Download without sending codes, the buyer will be emailed a link to their thank-you/download page, so they can simply forward that message (or copy-paste the link) to their intended gift recipient.

If you want to sell gift coupon codes, that would be a separate product from the actual download product. The buyer would purchase a coupon code good for the full price of the download product and provide that code to their intended gift recipient. The recipient would come to your site, add the download product to their cart, enter their code in the cart's Discount Code field to reduce their order total to 0.00, then proceed to our Free Checkout screen to finish placing their order and obtain their download link.
