To also offer a download with that product, follow those directions and also enable Single File Download for the product, and either upload a file or specify a Remote Product File URL -- see further details and instructions on using our download delivery feature here:

However, using Variants to offer a choice of download-only vs. download+hardcopy versions of the same product would only work if you were manually shipping the hardcopy, not with automated shipping fulfillment (unless perhaps your fulfillment shipper can watch for the 'sku' value that reveals which version was purchased, so they can ignore purchases for the non-hardcopy SKU).

You could still at least set up the download-only vs. download+hardcopy versions as separate products. This would allow you to only set up the Trepstar integration with the hardcopy version. In this case, you would probably set up Single File Download with the download-only product, then the download+hardcopy product would use "Package files from other products" to issue a link for the download-only product's file.]]>

Enabling Single File Download and uploading a file for a product will result in that download always being issued for all sales of that product; there is no way to disable the download depending on Variants or any other product setting.

I have tried defining "variants", but then paypal thinks that my "digital download" variant is a tangible product, and tacks on a shipping fee. So, I see that the "variants" must apply to tangible goods only.

I have read other help files as well, but none that seems to address this. If we want to make available a single product that can be purchased as DIGITAL DOWNLOAD or TANGIBLE ITEM, do we actually need to create two different items within our Admin/Store?

If not, can you please show the exact steps needed to configure everything properly?

MANY thanks!
