Bear in mind that Item Discounts (defined in each product's settings) are entirely separate and unrelated to Cart Discounts (defined in Admin > Cart Discounts). Item Discounts do not have any setting for Max Use Count.

Cart Discounts do not apply to any specific product; they only apply to a whole order for any of your products. In any given buyer's cart order, there can be at most only one Cart Discount applied only one Item Discount code applied per product as well.

Max Use Count is a setting you can define for a specific Cart Discount, so that discount can only be applied that many times before it expires -- this is often used for promotions like "First 100 customers get 15% off", or for creating Gift Coupon codes that can only be redeemed once.

The instruction about "enter multiple codes with the same settings" would be useful for creating a series of single-use Gift Coupon codes that all have the same discount amount settings, so you could sell those codes as Gift Coupons on your site. See more about this approach here:

Am I correct with the following scenario?

Product One = 5 Discount Codes; Max Use Count = 25

Any combination of the 5 Discount Codes could be applied, but whenever their combined total usage equals 25, the discounts expire.

Is this the correct interpretation of how it works?

Your note on the Discount Code page, "...enter multiple codes with the same settings," causes me to question it.

If you setup a discount code for a product, then you will need to give them the code. If you want the discount to apply automatically, that can be configured from E-junkie Seller Admin > Cart Discounts, but that will be for the whole order, not just for a specific product.

You will need to change the buttons on the site only if you are using our "Buy Now" buttons.

Do I give them the code which they put into the shopping cart somewhere or does the shopping cart automatically give the discount to anyone who purchases the discounted product?

Can you give me step by step instructions (at a real novice level) for how to discount a product and what to do after I have specified the discount in account administration. How does my customer get the discount? In other words, if I announce that all ebooks on our site are discounted 50% and I have set up the discounts in account admin. What do I need to do on the site or what code/information do I need to give my customers so that they can take advantage of the offer.
