Because of the delicate and potentially disastrous nature of these sorts of operations, also taking into account the shared nature of our centrally-managed services, it would take much longer to build a safe and usable interface with appropriate safeguards that merchants could use directly, so in the meanwhile we'll need to act as intermediaries to make sure mass-edits get applied correctly and safely.]]>

I will have to ask Development if they have any particular plans to support mass-editing of products, but I haven't heard any mention from them about that sort of thing. The vast majority of our merchants are smaller-scale operations, and that is our target userbase demographic; developing a mass-edit apparatus would be a fairly massive undertaking of benefit to only a tiny fraction of our clientele.

Development prioritizes new feature requests according to broadest potential benefit and the simplicity of programming them into our existing codebase and algorithms. Because ours is a centrally-managed service that is shared in common among thousands of merchant subscribers, it's impossible for us to make a modification for one merchant that does not also affect all other merchants, so we place the utmost importance on maintaining bug-free stability for all merchants using our system.

Greater priority is given to popularly-requested features which many or most merchants could benefit from, and which can be written into our existing system fairly straightforwardly with minimal risk, whilst lower priority is given to features rarely requested and of benefit to fewer merchants, or which require substantial reprogramming or complexity that may introduce new bugs or instability problems in well-polished and stable parts of our existing system.]]>

Actually, like said before, the entire setup for an item should be in plain view to navigate it quicker and without having to scroll tiny input boxes to see what is there.]]>

Also, adding a copy item function would be very usefull.

I can get by without this stuff but I would hate to use e-junkie if I were selling so many different items like some of these other people. The graphics look good adn all but we need functionality.]]>

I have to totally agree with you on this suggestion. Yes, a mass editing type of system would save me hours on inventory management. Each time I get new inventory in, I have to go to each product and update each one manually and click through all the screens. It take a large time commitment for such a simple task!

Come on E-Junkie, what do you say? Will a similar feature be in the works?]]>

I know EJ retains info when adding products so that similar products next added with default to the previous product's value, but once you've added products it becomes a bit arduous to make alterations on a mass-basis. (Unless there's an option I've missed, anyway.)

Something like a list of product names, with check boxes to select items that need altering, then a screen to select the attributes that need changing to a common value would be very handy indeed. In my case changing the price of single track music downloads.

I do hope it's something you'll consider implementing anyway. :)]]>
