Thanks, that's good to know about the button codes.

The discounts field seems to be moved already... which should eliminate a nasty problem,

I gather you are talking about the Item Expiration setting? Although that setting happens to be on the same screen where Item Discounts are configured, they are entirely unrelated; the Item Expiration is not meant as an Item Discount code expiration, although it can be used to make the item itself unavailable temporarily until discounts can be deleted manually. At any rate, we will soon be moving all discounts into a common, dedicated Discount Settings screen with an upcoming release, so that should eliminate any potential confusion about the actual purpose of the Item Expiration setting.

You should not need to replace any button codes at all if you are merely changing discounts. The only settings which alter the button codes would be Item Number, menu names/values for Variants/Variations, and (if you enable "Let buyer edit quantity") the Suggested Price. With any other settings changes, you can keep using the button code you already have on your site.

I like the idea of the first hundred customers discount, but it fades to nothingness in the face of not being able to set a time limit on an item discount!

The worst part is, when a discount expires, YOUR WHOLE PRODUCT IS LISTED AS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!

This happened to me several times, before I finally figured out that I wasn't doing it wrong... it's DESIGNED to do that! = : - o

Okay, no, by far the absolute worst part is when a product expires and we don't even receive a notification. The first time, over a month went by, with no one able to purchase! Serious flaw in the system.

I mean, I could have at least used a warning! A big BEWARE sign at the bottom of the help page on setting up discounts, and one that pops up whenever you set an expiry date...

Another big problem with the item discount thing is that every time I add or delete a discount, I have to go back to my page, change every button code, change every image source in the button code, reupload, retest, repair.... BLEH!

I was really excited about e-junkie when I first got it, but it's not turning out nearly as good as I'd hoped.

Some ideas I hope will be seriously considered for upgrading!

Nice idea, but personally i'd prefer the date/time expiry - or maybe even just date to make entry into that text box easier ex: code,4.95,2008-10-05

The enhancement planned for item discounts is the ability to let them expire after a set use count.

Apologies, I wasn't clear. I was talking about item discounts. Not that big a deal I guess, I can work around it. Any chance you could add it as a feature request? :p

Cart Discounts already have an optional expiration, configurable right there in the Edit Cart Discounts screen. Individual Item Discounts do not quite have a discount expiration, although you can at least set an Item Expiration (configured on the same screen as Item Discounts), which would make the item itself unsellable after the date/time you specify until you remove that expiry setting, giving you a chance to delete the discount (at which time you could also delete the item expiry to make it sellable again.

Any plans to add an expiry to discount codes? As it is, if I want to end a promotion at a certain time, I either have to be online, log into ejunkie and manually remove it (?!?) or create a new product that just uses 1 'files from other products' and set the item itself to expire.

Guys, you have a great little solution here, but there are just soooo many dumb little limitations.
