ex. I pasted product#1 affiliate link, buyer then buys product#2, will I get the credit?

In General,
if it's Hop-link, I should get the credit no matter what the buyer buys from the affiliate link?
If it direct link, I only get the credit if the buyer buys the exact same item as my affiliate link?

Is that statement correct?
