Not all payment processors provide an option to us for enabling that comment box .. and we will _eventually_ provide an option to merchants to add such a box in the cart itself. However, there are at least 7 heavy duty high priority features which we need to roll out before end of this year and that's keeping us real busy :(

This quote was posted in 2009 and I am wondering if this has been accomplished yet? I am in need of a permanent comment box in the cart so customers can leave comments and also a gift message for me if the items they are purchasing are to be gifts.

Thank you!

So I know that you aren't looking for a work-around -- but this is something that you *could* do.

Use our cart customization to add a $0 product with one variation which would allow your buyers to input a word within the cart and add it. Here's how you would achieve this:

In your View Cart code before the // --> add:

function EJEJC_config() {EJEJC_POSTCALL=true;
}
function EJEJC_shown() {jQuery("#dscnt_cd").attr("innerHTML", "no discount!");

jQuery("#tdPmnt").attr("innerHTML","Add to Cart Button Code");}

You will need to edit the Add to Cart Code before you input it such that all " have a \ in front of them.

Like this:

jQuery("#tdPmnt").attr("innerHTML",
"Additional Info:

")

You could even replace the image with text that says "submit".

Anyways... it's just a thought... and very much a workaround.

My purpose personally was to use it for specific order details. If there was a specific comment about the order, shipping arrangement, payment detail, gift maybe, multiple variety that may not fit E-Junkies variant option. Those type of things is what I would ultimately use it for.

It may also come into play for other things like requesting catalogs along with an order, or maybe something on those lines.

Mainly I thought it would be a simple yet neat feature to add on the checkout. You are also correct, I misinformed you in which page I thought it should be on. In my mind I imagined it on the "Checkout" page, or the page when you click on "View Cart" and have your total and zip code on it.

Just thought it would be a neat feature :)

If you had any other questions for me I would be more then obliged to answer,

Thanks for your support!

I'm sorry, I thought my suggestion was less of a work around and more of what you were after. So that was my misunderstanding.

We can't add anything to the actual checkout page since the checkout is usually on the payment processor's end.

I'll pass along to Robin your request for a comment field in the Cart, as everything else I could suggest would also be a workaround.

Just to clarify, how would you use this in your particular situation? I'm just curious of what exactly you were envisioning as far as buyer experience goes.

Thank you for your current help and swift reply. Sorry, but no. Me and some friends custom built this site. I actually don't have much time to go in and re-code the CSS so the box stretches with more content placed in.

I was just requesting a feature, since it would be something nice to see on the checkout form. Didn't think it would be too difficult as an addition/feature to E-Junkie. Just a kind user-input :)

I am actually not looking for a work around. Looking for the real deal, however I thank you for your time and effort in helping me with a workaround. Hopefully this may be something we can look forward to later on!

Thanks again Stefanie,

Does this control panel allow you to change the size of the box where you enter the cart code?

Can you setup a "mock" page for testing and send us the URL?

lemonbar,

Thanks for the compliment. :) I'm not particularly new... just been a bit more active on the forum lately. :)

Steph, are you new here or have I not been paying attention? I like how you reply and focus on what the customer is really asking. That helps me a lot, effeciancy wise, on this type of posting board due to possible lengthy delays. So glad you are here too.

ExoMagic, ok maybe you wont tell us but how do magicians show you a set of cards and then in a swipe of who knows what the cards all change into something else - like all hearts or all jokers, etc. Can you tell us how that happens? I think I know that they dont switch decks but sure cant figure out how they pull that off. Can we buy that magic trick deck from you?

Thanks for your swift reply. I have attempted this and since my site is php and has a control panel it has limited space. When I add this it does not allow a blank space. it simply gives me two selections and cuts off to the buy button.

Here is what I see -

Any other thoughts? I mean, I feel this would be a cool idea instead of a workaround. What do you personally think?

If I'm understanding what you're trying to do correctly, I think we may already be able to do what you're asking.

Let me know if I've misunderstood:

You're selling decks of cards comprised of 52 duplicate cards. You want buyers to be able to specify the color (on the back of the card) the suite and the rank.

You would use variations (which tell more about the product ordered) and set it up like so:

Option 1 Name: Card Color
Option 2 Name: Card Suite
Option 3 Name: Card Rank

Then below for Option Values:

Option 1 Values:
Red
Blue

Option 2 Values:
Hearts
Diamonds
Clubs
Spades

Option 3 Values:
<LEAVE THIS BLANK>

This will give you two drop-downs and one field where your buyers can enter whatever number or letter they wish.

I would firstly like to thank you for your outstanding product. Always creating innovative features and listening to your user inputs. That is what makes a successful company!

Ok, so here is my suggestion. During the checkout process do you feel it is feasible to have a feature where a customer can leave a comment?

Here is my position. I am one of the few users whom actually sell tangible products. I sell magic supplies to be specific. Sometimes for example, a customer wants a "forcing deck" which all the cards are the same. I can offer a 'blue' or 'red' variable in the options for the deck color, but for me to add 52 numbers and letters in the variable field is in a lack of better terms dumb. I was thinking it would be fantastic for E-Junkie to maybe enable an option for 'customer comments' during the checkout process. When the order is submitted the comment is maybe forwarded to the email along to Google/Paypal API? (Maybe that is not possible, but its a thought wondering in my head)

A possible way to expand on this idea is to have a small checkbox that says "comment". When you click the checkbox it opens a small box where you may leave a comment. Maybe use Ajax/Javascript for this feature?

Just me kicking an idea around, thought it was a good addition to think about. Everyone, please let me know your thoughts on this, am I the only one interested?
