I know this subject has been discussed before on these forums, but I've hit a slightly different problem which looks conflict-related. With regards to the supplied cart code snippet:

If I use the Javascript version of the code, it looks to be conflicting with some JQuery plugin's I already have in the page. In particular, there looks to be a conflict with the Curvy Corners script I'm using. With the button code inserted, the whole site shifts up the page and I loose the corners from the top of the main container. I'm using a customised version of the Curvy Corners script which is suppose to contain a fix against such conflicts and this does work under normal circumstances: http://groups.google.com/group/curvycorners/browse_thread/thread/eca758cde3e69ce9

But inserting the "View Cart" code is causing visual problems and the occurrence of error messages in Internet Explorer and Firebug which refer to the corners code.
