It is possible for our cart to get a shipping quote from the US Postal Service before an order goes to checkout, but that is not the only method for calculating shipping that is available. Unfortunately, since there are so many different carriers with different costs and different ways to provide shipping information we've not really been able to expand beyond USPS for getting quotes. We aren't able to calculate shipping according to Australia Post's rates.

You still have many other options, such as using packaging costs, charging by weight or quantity or just charging a simple flat rate for all orders. You will be able to set different costs for different locations, and/or even charge a series of flat rates that scale up depending on the details of an order.

Our help page for shipping covers what all the different functions do and you certainly don't need to use every single option at once, just determine what you want to charge under what conditions and you will be able to program that into your cart settings. We can also give you detailed step by step instructions via email if you can tell us what you would like your costs to be. :)]]>

Now I understand this is an issue with FatFreeCart and I'm looking into upgrading to E-junkie Cart. My question is this.... I read that the shipping is calculated using USPS. I live in Australia and we use Australia Post. Is this option included in the Pro version or is USPS all that is offered?

Are you able to shed some light on this for me before I sign up and upgrade?

The site I am working on is www.tiffanysplace.com.au

Thanks very much. :)]]>

The two sites you referenced are actually using E-junkie Cart, not FatFreeCart. Although the two carts look and behave similarly from a buyer perspective, they are actually quite different under the skin.

FatFreeCart only allows for a flat shipping fee to be defined on each item, so if you want different rates to different destinations, you'd need to provide a separate Add to Cart button for each destination/rate. You can see this approach used in the example buttons provided on the http://www.fatfreecart.com/ homepage -- the "Buy my CD" item has two Add to Cart buttons under it, one for "Ship to USA" and another for "International Shipping.

If you subscribe to use the E-junkie Cart system, that uses a much more sophisticated and flexible Shipping calculator which asks the buyer to select their location in the cart and calculates shipping accordingly. This help page explains E-junkie's shipping calculation settings:

I am just in the process of adding the fat free cart to my website, only running locally at the moment so can’t put a link up just yet.

i have followed the live links that are currently using the fatfreecart, concentrating mainly on http://www.princesstots.com/. It has a link to http://www.coccoletta.com/ which I’m guessing is another one of their sites also using the fatfreecart.

When clicking on the add to cart button, there is another few selections allowing the user to select their country for delivery.

How is this possible with the fatfreecart? I would like to add a few countries to my cart each with a different shipping rate.

Please explain how to do this as I’m definitely wanting to use this feature.

Thanks]]>
