The default 6-month residual commission period is what we document on our help pages and what existing E-junkie affiliates would expect, so if you choose to shorten that period, you should be clear about that on your site's affiliate recruitment page and paste the URL of that page in your Affiliate Program Settings > More Information URL field, so affiliates can find their way back to that page via the More Info button in their Affiliate Admin.

Adding a custom referral-cookie lifespan to your landing page URL for a given hop link would affect cookies set by clicking that type of link from that moment on, but referral cookies already set by hop link clicks before you'd added the custom lifespan would be unaffected. Follow these steps:

1 - Go to Seller Admin > Edit Affiliate Program Settings
2 - In the field for Common Hop Link URL enter the URL you want affiliates to link to.
3 - Press space and then enter the number of days you want the cookie to last. Our system will know where the URL ends and the number begins by that space.

So a buyer can come to your site via the link for a certain product, buy something entirely different from you, and still credit the affiliate who referred them. I have one page with 11 products on it. One of those products includes all the others on the page.

I've created a link to the inclusive product so that it would take buyers right to that page. As I have an overall affiliate % entered for ALL products, will this then also mean that if someone follows the affiliate code to that page and select 1, 2, or 5 of the other products on that page, NOT including the 'inclusive' package, this will be tracked properly for the affiliate?

We can't guarantee that an outside affiliate system will work with our cart though, which was the main reason we designed our own that we can vouch for compatibility wise.

We support several different third party checkout methods so there are differences between certain setups that can affect your results. We go over the basics here:

You may want to join your own affiliate program by clicking your own sign-up link, so you can see exactly what your affiliates would see in their Affiliate Admin. You won't need to register a new account to join your program; your existing E-junkie login will work fine for that. You can use the Sellers and Affiliates tabs at the top of our site to pick which Admin you want to see at any given moment.

If you will not pay commission on affiliates' own purchases, you should clearly state that on the page where you recruit affiliates to sign up, just so there's no misunderstanding. It may be a good idea to put your sign-up link only on that page, then any other affiliate recruitment links you post elsewhere would just point to that page. You can also paste the URL of that page as the "More Information" link in your Seller Admin > Affiliate Program Settings, so affiliates can find their way back to it easily by clicking the More Info button in their Affiliate Admin.

If you provide 2 links, how do you connect that to the affiliate so that they have the links? How do affiliates get their hands on those 2 links, or more?

It makes sense for a potential affiliate to be able to 'sample', yet I can see it easily being used simply as a discount so you recommend monitoring. Wouldn't affiiates wonder about this then - or is it OK to arbitrarily, based on no subsequent sales, to eliminate a commission pay? It's still a good idea to have a Common hop link landing page URL, which would work as a fallback landing page for "orphaned" hop link -- i.e., any product-specific hop links issued for products which have since been deleted or had their own hop link disabled would still work as Common hop links, redirecting to your Common hop link URL.

There's no way to automatically track or block affiliates using their own hop link to purchase a product they're promoting. You could watch for that and manually adjust any relevant affiliate commission total(s) in your monthly masspay.txt file before uploading the to PayPal Mass Payment. However, many affiliates might reasonably expect to sample the product at a discounted "wholesale cost" before they'll consider promoting it for you. You could just watch for cases where the only sale an affiliate has referred is their own purchase, and just delete their line from the masspay file before you pay out commissions.

1) If I use the same % commission for each product, the directions say to just link the affiliate's link back to home page or specific product page. I'll want it to be to specific product pages, but that means that link should be different depending on what the affiliate is promoting. Just bringing them to my web site is confusing - they should be lead right to the spot promoted. How is this achieved?

And if a universal commission % is offered, it looks like that can be overridden with product specific links.

2) Is it possible to set this up so that the affiliate cannot get a commission on their OWN purchase, only when sold to others?

2) There is nothing special you have to do with 2Checkout to use our Affiliate Program feature.

3) Our system will register the affiliate transactions, however the affiliate will not be paid automatically. You will need to pay your affiliates after the transactions. All the funds will still transfer to your account.
