Google Base is an online database where a user can add virtually anything like recipes, To-Do lists, exam schedules, Reviews/ratings and classified ads like a job posting or put up their car or house for sale.

The service enables a user to load data a single item at a time or a bulk upload option to upload huge sets of data. A user needs to have a Google account to add items to the database.

The Google search engine indexes sites periodically but the advantage with the new service is that any addition to the database is made available instantaneously for every one who searches the web using Google.

Google has stepped up the pressure on sites like craiglist.org and other sites with this service. With this move Google seems to be fulfilling its promise of being able to help the world organize its information.
