Latest eBay Phishing Scam

Posted on November 7, 2005, 6:15 am by E-junkieChef under News

The latest phishing scam for eBay is where you get an email which will seem like a genuine enquiry about your listing from an eBay member. These kind of emails seem more authentic than any I have received in past. Since the links are well "cloaked" in some of these emails, you should always keep an eye on the location bar of your browser. That is something these frauds can never fake.

For those of you who do not know, Phishing is an internet fraud where a fake website is made to resemble a site like eBay or PayPal or a similar site for the sole purpose of stealing personal informations. Users are tricked into going to these "fake" sites by the scammer who sends out fraud email which look like they are coming from the original site. The username and password users enters on fake sites is then stolen and used by the scammer to gain access to user's online accounts.
