Here is a section of the intro:
This model which is one of the simplest of steam engine desgins, includes a boiler and its fittings.
The feature of the engine is the rocking or oscillation of the cylinder. As the steam passes through the upper port into the cylinder it forces the piston down, turning the crank throw. The cylinder rocks on an arc to allow for the movement of the connecting rod attached to the crank throw, closing the upper and opening the lower ports. This allows steam to enter again and force the piston up and the action is then repeated.
Plans include:
Detailed descriptions
- Many 3 dimensional drawings of how parts fit together.
- Exploded views of materials. This is great to show how it all fits together.
- Precise drawings which includes all measurements.
- Labels of all parts
- Pictures of how the engine is made. Excellent pictures of the machining of parts. Shows how to setup the lathe, etc.
- Complete Materials List
- Looks like a fun project! If you like this one, check out my other steam engines and projects in my store! Have fun!
