RC airplane compression style plans.

Be the first RC hobbiest in your neighbourhood to build this unique engine!

In the late 1940s, small “diesel-type” engines made an appearance, competing withthe petrol engines which were already popular. This article describes a 1.25cc engine. No castings are necessary.

These plans are in both Adobe pdf format. I include a copy of the freely downloadable Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Description:
This little engine is interestingfor two reasons. Firstly, it was made before anyinformation on the design of such engines was available in this country, so that there was a certain amount of experimentation by the writerbefore the final design was arrived at. Secondly, this particular design seems to be very efficient, incomparison with some later commercial designs,in regard to the matter of fuel consumption. Thereare also some controversial points in the design, though the actual model itself operates very wellindeed, and is easy to start.

The engine is 3/8 in. bore by 5/8 in. stroke, withvariable compression, and drives an airscrew of9-1/2 in. dia. by 5 in. pitch at between 3000 and6000 r.p.m.:weight, complete, 5 oz.
