ICE BOAT ICEBOAT PLANS designs howto boats

Here is a brief summary of each boat included in this package:

1. Crawfish:

An innovation in front-steering ice boats is this aerodynamically streamlined cabin craft for those who desire protection from the frigid blasts. Graceful in line and appearances, Crawfish's body hardly interferes with fast sailing qualities, because it is ultra-streamlined so that air resistance is minimized to the utmost. Lightly built, its weight is negligible. With an overall length of 28 feet, Crawfish has 175 sq feet of sail, classifying her as a Class C racer. The cockpit has room for one person beside the pilot.

2. Cold Lightening:

This is a skeeter class ice boat that can travel over 100 mp/h! She weighs a mere 275 lbs and only 71 sq. feet of sail area and yet she is faster than her forebears costing hundreds of dollars to build.

3. Polar Bear:

The Polar Bear was developed for class racing at the Maumee Bay Ice Yacht Clubs, Toledo, Ohio and has proved to be a very popular and successful boat. In general appearances it is somewhat similar to the larger and more expensive 15 meter class.

4. Whiz:

A fast Class E Ice Yacht. This ice boat is more difficult to build but the reward is worth it!

5. Jet-Iceboat for Boys:

This speedy little ice boat has the advantage of unobstructed vision, low center of gravity and spring action to absorb shocks from rough ice. These characteristics make it especially suitable for iceboating on ponds, small lakes and rivers. WIth the mast unstepped it is compact enough to be towed by hand like a sled!

Along with this quality boat plans, I thought it might be nice to include some Sailboat Design Ratios. This attempts to provide explanations for the basic sailboat design ratios used to compare boats with one another. I start with basic dimensions (boat and rig) then do ratios, site my sources, refer to more articles and then finally some websites I find useful.
