For years after Queen Mahala’s death King Hazuma sought her namesake and was surprised at his great granddaughter who said, “My name is Mahala.” She was proclaimed the namesake of Queen Mahala and is expected to be like her, but her cousin Prince Maoca did not believe this. King Hazuma keeps his inherited treasure hidden and life continues in a peaceful manner. Years later, seeking advice about a maiden who had stolen his heart Prince Tonka went to King Hazuma for counsel. The king advised him to listen to the words of Mahala and he ignored it. Shortly after he left him, the king died. Grieved he had not stay with him, Tonka volunteered to travel into the southern lands of New Spain to tell the king’s sister, Nikeetcheia about his death. Returning he discovered that in his absence, he had been chosen as chief. He was unsure whether or not to accept. Reading his thoughts Mahala foretold, “You will become a great chief.” She withheld the part of her vision where the Spaniard Onate was soon to come. Tonka was reassured about her worth but suddenly, Mahala vanished.
