I have a product that I cannot provide immediate downloads for because of exclusivity. Someone there suggested I do the free d/l link when the purchase was complete. That worked fine, except that the actual product has to be available for download, completely defeating the entire thing - if it's available for download, it's available to anyone through my store. Do you have other options?

I suggested that to you myself along with suggesting that you should setup a product with "no file" uploaded and that's the one you should sell.
