I'm a little confused about how the affiliate program works, although I've read the info on the site. Let me see if I have it straight:
I add a link on my site that takes people to a page with info on how to sign up as an affiliate for certain products? Once they add the code to their site, any sale that takes place as a result of someone coming to my site from that link is valid? What if one of my digital products has several parts associated with it, but is purchased as one product... does it qualify?
What exactly is a 'hop link' and how should I use it? Is there anything I should be cautious about?

You (merchant) gets a sign-up link that you provide to affiliates.
Affiliates sign-up using that and get either direct link or a hop-link or both (depends on how you have configured your affiliate program) to sell your product.
Hop-link takes the prospective buyer to your site and direct link takes them directly to the payment processor.
It does not matter how many parts your product is comprised of as long the affiliate program is set for the package product (the one which contains the part and is being sold)
