button cart code codes confused image images page placed quotes replace shopping site src url urls view

I want to set up the shopping cart on my site but want to use my own button. I am confused how to do this since it says that I need both the code for view cart and add cart. Do I need to add both codes for the one button?

You only need one VIEW CART button on a page where you have placed an ADD TO CART button.

To use your own images, you can replace the image URL (the part in quotes after src=) in our button code with your own image URLs.
