PayPal Confusion

What's the basic difference between using PP or PPPro? I can't find any comparison on PP site. Also, can I integrate affiliates and other features of e-J with both PP and PPP? This sounds like a dumb question, even to me, but I just can't find the info. Thanks for your help.

Here's the explanation.

I'm not sure of how it works with e-junkie.

Now if someone could just help me with e-junkie's affiliate set up, I'd be happy. I'm so confused.

Susan, Thanks for your rapid response. The message I got from e-J support said to just use regular PP since I am having difficulty setting up PPPro. So I guess I'll just use regular PP, regardless.

(I hope you get the affiliate thing set up. I'll be there in a couple of weeks.)

I just signed up for a trial with e-junkie today, but I had a PayPal account set up already. So I decided to explore the affiliate info and that is where I got confused. Hopefully I'll get the right answers so that I can understand the way the entire thing works.
Good Luck.

Susan, that was my situation. I followed the e-J instructions, but when I got to the API address, I got a message in PP that said "Please enter a valid API username". I had indeed entered the EXACT name that e-J gave me, but it just didn't work. I contacted Support, and they recommended that I use regular PP instead.

I did see some stuff on the affiliate info as I was loading up my products. There is a button to click for each product to give affiliate info. I didn't do it today because I want to get the basic setup working. Wish I knew more to tell you.

I never had a Pro account with PayPal, just the regular. So that went smoothly.

Maybe you will get the affiliate program done (if you are going to do it) before me!

MaryAnn, can you please ensure that you were not entering a space before or after the API name?

I had to cancel the PP Pro so I could use the regular PP. But I'm really pretty sure there were no spaces -- I've done enough "copy/paste" stuff with other vendors that I know about spaces and periods. I tried it several times just to be sure, but it never worked.

PayPal had a spate of issues over the weekend, one of which was causing APIs to return error messages, so that would probably explain the API username problems you were encountering. We have copied PayPal's status notices about these issues in this topic of our Service Status and Updates forum category:
