A Direct Link would only work if the merchant has enabled Direct Links for that product, which would provide the product's Direct Link code in your Affiliate Admin for that merchant's affiliate program.
If you'd like to ask a mercahnt to enable Direct Links for any of their products, you can use the Contact Merchant button in your Affiliate Admin to send a message to any merchant whose affiliate program you have joined.
