How can I sell video on my website through E-junkie?

Hi,



I have several pdf files that I sell through E-junkie, and find it simple for both myself and buyers to use. I have just made a video tutorial, which I had packaged, with notes to go with it. On uploading the 25 min. video, I realized that the file size was far too big, and not only that, it would take too long for buyers to download.



Trying to think of a way around this, I thought that I could put the video, with a link to the pdf notes, on a password protected page on my website. The only problem is that if I put the password in the Thank You email, it would be static, rather than dynamic. Would this be OK, or do I need to protect this link/password as I do with my other E-junkie files?



I've tried to find information on the forum and the only things I can see are a separate code generating software and a membership style format. Both of these I feel will complicate the process, which I would like to keep as simple as possible.



The problem is that I would like the buyer to have access to the video whenever they wish, not just for a short while, as I don't think that they will be able to download the video from my site to their computer. It can be done, with various online video downloaders, but I'm thinking this also may be too complicated.

You could embed the video in a secret page on your site and set up a product using our Redirection feature:

Then if you need to bundle that with other file downloads, use Approach B described here to create a bundle product that issues links for the redirection and download(s) together at once:

I might have known that you had a way of doing this. All I need to do now is get my head around the different methods, and how to organise my files, but at least now I know that it can be done! Many thanks for the great information.

My video is 755 MB. No way I can store it on e-junkie or on my website. Do you know of a way to do it?

If your regular Web site host doesn't grant you that much storage or allow you to store files that large -- and note you don't need any special video hosting/streaming features, so generic file storage on your site's server would suffice -- we usually recommend using Amazon S3 as an extremely affordable file hosting service that's known to work well with us:

When you upload your file to S3, you would need to set the file as public and obtain a public link URL for the file, which you would paste as the Remote Product File URL in your product's settings in E-junkie Admin. Note that "public" does not mean your file would be listed or exposed anywhere for the general public to discover; it just means the file can be accessed by anyone who already knows the exact URL of that file (similar to having an unlisted phone number), and we do not reveal your remote file URLs to anybody.

Hi, not joined E Junkie yet as my product isn't quite ready. However the redirect seems a good option for me.



I was wondering if this might work? .... When the customer arrives at the section in my website redirected from E Junkie, they are met with a sign in page. They would be informed they must use the name or email address they purchased the product with (or something else unique from their order) and they can choose a password themselves.



It would be a deterrent and names/emails could be checked if there were any unusual activity.



As I want the customers to have unlimited access they would then be able sign in when they want.



New to this, so can you see any flaws in this method?

Yes, that sounds like you'd want to use our custom/third-party Integration feature to have us send the order details to a membership system at your end:

You would probably want to use buyer access credentials for your membership system that we don't inherently append to your Redirection URL when we perform the redirection (see http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.redirection.htm for details), or just don't use Redirection at all, and provide the link to your member sign-in page by other means.

Thanks, yes the final suggestion looks the simplest. I am assuming that I could include a link in the download with instructions to sign in using the name they purchased the product?



Also, I am assuming I would get the customers name after purchase?



A short period where people could sign up with a shared link wouldn't worry me, infact would be an advantage, as they would get a taste for whats on offer.I mght even let that link out myself LOL, as I can remove none customers later.
